The GREAT PREREQUISITE:
Every person who does evangelism must be sure of himself/herself to be a true believer of Christ. He/she should have the Life of Christ in him/her.
Physical Preparation:
- As much as possible, free from sickness or any physical discomfort.
- Personal hygiene – presentable clothing and good-smelling.
- Have enough energy. Evangelism could be physically-tiring. It is best that fasting (in preparation for evangelism) should be done before the actual evangelism.
Mental Preparation:
- Know the cultural and academic background of the target community for evangelism. This will help you to adjust your methodology and the use of words to avoid being unnecessarily offensive.
- If the target community has a different language from you, study their language.
- Review the Gospel. It is best to memorize Salvation Scriptures by heart.
- Be familiar with other topics that confront people in their everyday lives: healing, money, burdens, forgiveness, wisdom, acceptance, love, etc. It is best to have ready Scriptures for such topics.
Spiritual Preparation:
- Nothing beats the power of prayer. The power of the Holy Spirit is released thru prayers. Fasting is best done before the actual evangelism.
- Make yourself a holy and consecrated vessel. “A Holy Minister is an awesome weapon in the Hand of God.” – Robert McChyne.
